SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Barbara Hamsmith of Aurora, who passed
4away on August 31, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Hamsmith was born on February 24, 1950, in
6Aurora; her parents were Frank Sr. and Norma (Musso) Guzauskas;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Barbara Hamsmith earned her bachelor's degree in
9accounting from North Central College in 2009 after going back
10to college part-time for 11 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Over the years, Barbara Hamsmith worked as a
12secretary, computer programmer, material handling sales
13specialist, and bookkeeper; she also enjoyed working side by
14side with her husband for many years in his accounting
15practice; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Barbara Hamsmith was a church organist for more
17than 40 years, first at St. Peter's Church in Aurora and then
18at Holy Angels Church; she also served as an Extraordinary
19Minister at Holy Angels; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Barbara Hamsmith enjoyed making breakfast on

1Sundays after early Mass with her husband, antiquing, spending
2quality time with her family, bowling, baking, and gardening;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Barbara Hamsmith was preceded in death by her
5parents; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Barbara Hamsmith is survived by her beloved
7husband of 40 years, Jerry; her wonderful children, Matthew
8(Lisa) and Rachel; her granddaughter, Cecilia; her sisters,
9Karen (William) Oleckno and Jeannie (Daniel) Currie; her
10brother, Frank (Elizabeth) Guzauskas; her many special nieces,
11nephews, and grandnephews; and her best friends, Patrick and
12Mary Dougherty; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15her family and friends, the passing of Barbara Hamsmith; and be
16it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Barbara Hamsmith as an expression of
19our sympathy.
