SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply
3saddened to learn of the death of Marc Victor Burnett of
4Peoria, who passed away on September 20, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marc Burnett was born on February 3, 1953, in
6Belleville at Scott Air Force Base, to Victor and Patricia
7(Vannice) Burnett; he married Ann Powers on February 25, 1984;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Marc Burnett was the director of marketing for the
10Peoria Civic Center (PCC) since 2000; he was "the face" of the
11PCC and was an integral part of bringing to life the Broadway
12Theatre Series, WorldFest, and many community organizations,
13including the W.D. Boyce Council of Boy Scouts of America, the
14WCBU Associate Board of Directors, the WTVP, the ICC, the
15Peoria Players, and the Corn Stock theatres; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Marc Burnett was a Eucharistic minister and lector
17at Holy Family Church and active in Cursillo and TEC; he
18founded the Peoria Civic Center Student Advisory Program; he
19touched countless lives with his musical talent and
20performances, ranging from basement jams and recordings to
21original music scores for family weddings and festival
22performances as the Burnett Family Singers; and

1    WHEREAS, Marc Burnett was an avid outdoorsman and sports
2enthusiast; he was fond of Long's Peak and the St. Louis
3Cardinals; he coached several youth sports teams for nearly a
4decade; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marc Burnett's sense of humor and exuberance
6endeared him to friends around the world; he will be remembered
7for his one-word outlook on life: "Bueno!"; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marc Burnett was preceded in death by his brother,
9Patrick; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marc Burnett is survived by his wife, Ann; his
11sons, Ty Michael and Van Powers Burnett; his brothers, Rick,
12Terry, Kelly (Anita), Chris (Connie), and Johnny (Susan); his
13sisters, Viki, Lisa, Val (Dave Berry), and Jenny (Bob
14Parkhurst); and his numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be
15it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Marc Burnett, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
