SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Carlin of Algonquin, who passed
4away on August 18, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Carlin was born on March 13, 1943; his
6parents were Edward and Catherine (Murphy) Carlin; he married
7Carol Barakso on February 19, 1965; and
 
8    WHEREAS, James Carlin was a graduate of Marist High School
9and St. Peter's College in Jersey City; and
 
10    WHEREAS, James Carlin served his country with pride as a
11member of the United States Marines; and
 
12    WHEREAS, James Carlin traveled and worked in Latin America,
13Europe, and much of the United States during his life; after
14beginning his career in manufacturing systems, he ascended the
15ranks of senior IT management and eventually to executive
16positions, including director of IT at Baxter Health Care,
17chief information officer of Baxter Renal Division and, most
18recently, CIO of Gerber; and
 
19    WHEREAS, James Carlin was active and interested in politics
20at all levels; he often volunteered for local political

1activities and enjoyed writing about the issues he felt were
2most important to the nation; he also enjoyed the company of
3many cherished animals; and
 
4    WHEREAS, James Carlin was preceded in death by his parents;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, James Carlin is survived by his wife, Carol
7Carlin; his children, Jay (fiancee, Kelly) Carlin, Mike
8(Christine) Carlin, and Suzanne (best friend, Jim) Carlin; his
9grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jessica, Ryan, and Natalie; and his
10closest cousins, Diane (Jeff) Carlin-Bartel and Peggy (Bob)
11Parsons; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of James Carlin; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of James Carlin as an expression of our
18sympathy.
