SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Betty M. Nichols of Elkhart, who passed
4away on May 7, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was born on January 10, 1928 in rural Lincoln,
6the daughter of Reynold Orville and Cora Baker Liesman; and
 
7    WHEREAS, She married Glenn Arthur Nichols on September 14,
81954; she graduated from Hartsburg High School in 1946; and
 
9    WHEREAS, She retired from the Illinois Secretary of State's
10office where she worked in the Title Department; she later
11worked at the Dollar Store in Lincoln; she was a member of Zion
12Lutheran Church in Lincoln and the Wonderful Women & Wine Red
13Hat Society; and
 
14    WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her son, David A.
15"Sabwah" Nichols; and her brothers, Orville Liesman, Gerald
16Liesman, and Wilbur Liesman; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Betty Nichols is survived by her children, Steve
18(Cindy) Nichols and Suzann (Mark) Maxheimer; her
19grandchildren, Jessica Maxheimer, Garret Maxheimer, and
20Whitney Nichols; and her sisters, Bernice "Totie" Hoffert, Mary

1Ann Underwood Bratcher, Nevie (Jim) Haseley, and Ruth Steffens;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
5her family and friends, the passing of Betty Nichols; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Betty Nichols as a symbol of our
9sincere sympathy.
