SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jane Hanna Ising of Homewood, who passed
4away February 2, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jane Ising was born on February 2, 1902, in
6Berlin, Germany; her parents were Hans and Clara (Moldehaur)
7Ehmer; she married Ernst Ising on December 23, 1930, in Berlin;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jane Ising earned her Ph.D. in economics from the
10University of Berlin and researched for 2 professors there for
1110 years; after they were forced out of Germany by the Nazis,
12she and her husband ended up in Luxembourg during World War II;
13after the war, they came to America and soon settled in Peoria,
14where she was involved in numerous community works, including
15the opening of the local Planned Parenthood; she also taught
16economics at Bradley University and led the great books classes
17for many years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jane Ising was preceded in death by her husband
19and her parents; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jane Ising is survived by her son, Thomas Ising
21(Carol); her grandchildren, Chuck and Ralph (Wendy); and her

1great-grandchildren, Jake, Joey, Rebecca, Sarah, and Maria;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
5her family and friends, the passing of Jane Hanna Ising; and be
6it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Jane Ising as an expression of our
9sympathy.
