SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gene F. Kratschmer of Godfrey, who passed
4away on February 3, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born in Alton on September 19, 1925, to
6Frederick J. and Mayme F. (Krepel) Kratschmer; he married Mary
7Ann Penning on June 17, 1950 and she preceded him in death in
81975; on January 1, 1996, he married Patti (Flippo) Toolen; and
 
9    WHEREAS, He was a certified public accountant for 45 years,
10the last 40 years of which he was a partner at Scheffel and
11Company; he was a member of the American Institute of Certified
12Public Accountants, the Illinois Institute of CPAs, the
13American Legion Post 2910, president of the Alton Rotary Club,
14and chairman of the Southwest Illinois United Way Campaign; and
 
15    WHEREAS, He served his country in the Naval Air Corps from
161943 to 1945; he attended St. Patrick's Grade School, Marquette
17High School, and Alton High School Class of 1943; he attended
18Washington University in St. Louis and in 1948 earned a
19Bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis
20in accounting; he was a noted musician and played with local
21bands and musicians including Hank Penning, Carol Peters, and
22Ronnie Klaus; he was a lifetime member of the Musicians Local

2    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and his
3first wife, Mary Ann; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gene Kratschmer is survived by his wife, Patti;
5his children and their spouses, Mark (Mary Jo) Kratschmer,
6Lynne (John) Troyan, Michael (Karen) Kratschmer, Bo (Lori)
7Kratschmer, Jeff (Michelle) Kratschmer, Val (Brian) Vogt, and
8Toni (Nelson) Palmer; his grandchildren and their spouses, Ted,
9Christopher, John, Eric, Kelly, Katy, and Livy Kratschmer, Mary
10(Robert) Vandevord, Jessica Dow, Ashley Mize, Nathan and
11Gretchen Vogt; his great-grandchild, Ivy Jade Vandevord; and
12several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16his family and friends, the passing of Gene Kratschmer; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Gene Kratschmer as a symbol of our
20sincere sympathy.
