SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of SPC Christopher Patterson who passed away
4January 6, 2012, while proudly serving his country in the
5Kandahar Province in Afghanistan; and
 
6    WHEREAS, He was born April 17, 1991 in Philadelphia,
7Pennsylvania, the son of Robert and Mary (nee, Schneider)
8Patterson; he was a 2009 graduate of West Aurora High School,
9and was continuing his studies in music education at Valparaiso
10University in Indiana; he was a member of the professional
11music fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and toured with the
12school's premiere vocal ensemble, the Chorale; and
 
13    WHEREAS, He also composed and arranged music with the a
14cappella group VuVox and for the West High STUDy Hall Choir; he
15was co-captain and first board for the West High Chess Team and
16was honored to be under the tutelage of Robert Payne; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Coming from a strong military family, he enlisted
18with the Indiana National Guard and served as a 12B Combat
19Engineer with the 713th Engineering Company (Sapper) based out
20of the Valparaiso Armory; and
 
21    WHEREAS, SPC Christopher Patterson is survived by his

1parents, Robert and Mary Patterson; his brothers, Carl
2Patterson, Sean (Anna) Patterson, and Thomas (Robyn)
3Patterson; his paternal grandparents, Durland and Sally (nee
4Clark) Patterson; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Claire
5(nee Dux) Schneider; his godparents, Kathy and George Jirasek;
6his many aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, and dear friends; and
7his "adopted" siblings, Billy Czech, Aaron Foster, and Candace
8Robinson; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11his family, friends, and a grateful nation, the passing of SPC
12Christopher Patterson; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of SPC Christopher
14Patterson and his willingness to serve his country, which led
15to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of SPC Christopher Patterson as a
18symbol of our sincere sympathy.
