SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Urban Hipp of Aurora, who passed away
4September 4, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born in Aurora on March 28, 1913, the son
6of the late Fred and Elizabeth Hipp; he attended Fox Valley
7High School and graduated from East Aurora High School; he
8attended the University of Illinois, graduating in 1936 with a
9degree in business, and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta
10Fraternity; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Upon finishing college, he became employed with
12U.S. Steel; on May 21, 1938, he married Margaret Barber of
13Aurora, whom he met at the University of Illinois; in 1939, he
14joined Barber Greene Company, serving in many management
15positions, including Treasurer and Vice President of Finance,
16and was a Director until his retirement in 1978; and
 
17    WHEREAS, He was very active in the business community,
18serving as a Director of Mercy Center, the Old Second National
19Bank of Aurora, Aurora Metal, the State of Illinois Chamber of
20Commerce, and the Aurora Country Club; he was an avid golfer,
21fisherman, poker and scrabble player, but he was also someone
22who enjoyed opening himself to new and different experiences

1whenever possible and with a confidence that was special; and
 
2    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret;
3his parents, Fred and Elizabeth; his brother, Ralph; his
4sisters, Irene Davis and Clara "Honey" Dalton; and his
5grandson, Christopher Hipp; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Urban Hipp is survived by his son, David (Sandy)
7Hipp; his daughters, Barbara Fiore and Nancy Brown; his
8grandchildren, David (Mollie) Hipp, Thomas (Julie) Hipp,
9Daniel (Julie) Hipp, Brian (Stephanie) Hipp, Sarah Hipp, Karen
10(Richard) Olson, and Michael (Jennifer) Fiore; his 18
11great-grandchildren; he is also survived by his daughter
12Nancy's 3 special Tibetans, Tenzin Kunga, Tenzin Yhulo, and
13Tenzin Lhaze, who had been like grandchildren to him;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17his family and friends, the passing of Urban Hipp; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Urban Hipp as a symbol of our
21sincere sympathy.
