HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Janet
4Riess Brook of Antioch, who passed away on April 13, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was born January 12, 1918 in Oak Park, the
6daughter of the late Harry John and Alice Irene (Lowrey) Riess;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, She was an avid, lifelong Chicago Bears fan and
9enjoyed playing bridge and gardening; her family had a summer
10home on Channel Lake since 1911; she was a member of the Lakes
11Region Historical Society, a volunteer for the American Cancer
12Society, and past president of the Antioch Woman's Club; and
13she adored the color red; and
 
14    WHEREAS, She graduated from Beloit College in 1939 where
15she earned a BA in Geology, and was affiliated with Delta Delta
16Delta Sorority; she also met her future husband while attending
17Beloit College; from 1939 through 1941, she worked as a store
18tour guide for Marshall Fields department store; on May 24,
191941 she married William E. Brook in River Forest; and
 
20    WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband; her
21parents; her daughter, Suraya Brook; and her brother, Morton

1Riess; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Janet Brook is survived by her daughter, Ainsley
3(Robert) Wonderling; her sister, Donna Abt; her nieces,
4Christine Abt, Karen (David) Clarbour, and Julie (Nick
5DeLeeuw); her nephews, David Abt and Bill (Colleen Downey)
6Riess; and her sister-in-law, Bobbie Riess; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of
10Janet Brook; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Janet Brook as a symbol of our
13sincere sympathy.
