HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Michael Richards was born in Peoria; he is
3currently a resident of Chicago; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Michael Richards has been employed for almost
5forty years with the Xerox Corporation; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Michael Richards graduated from Peoria Central
7High School in 1969; he subsequently attended Illinois Central
8College and Bradley University, majoring in electrical
9engineering and technology; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Michael Richards has had various service line and
11staff positions with Xerox, including Service Engineer in
12Peoria, Field Manager of Customer Service in Chicago, District
13Service Support Manager in Chicago, Employment Manager for
14Midwest and Southern Regions, Human Resources Operations
15Manager, and District Manager of Customer Service in the
16Chicago Metropolitan Area; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Michael Richards has always been heavily involved
18in the community; both personally and through the auspices of
19his company, through numerous organizations, including the
20Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, the
21Tri-County Urban League, Lawrence Hill Youth Services, where he

1served as a mentor for men in 1992, Xerox Concerned Black
2Employees, where he served as an officer for the national
3organization, the Minority Economic Resource Corporation Board
4of Directors, the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement
5Board of Directors, the Mt. Sinai Community Institute Board of
6Directors, the Chicago Minority Business Development Council
7Board of Directors, and the National Black Employee
8Association, where he held the offices of Chairman and
9Treasurer; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Michael Richards has been invited to speak on
11business issues on a number of occasions as a speaker for the
12Kemper Scholarship Program at Northern Illinois University, as
13a panelist at Loyola University to address diversity in
14corporate America, and as a speaker on business ethics at the
15Illinois Business Week Program at North Central College; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Michael Richards is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha
17Fraternity and is active in many other organizations, both
18professional and service related, and has always been committed
19to helping others and will continue to do so in his retirement;
20therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23we congratulate Michael A. Richards for his many years of

1service to his community, wish him the best in his future
2endeavors, and trust that he will prosper as much in the future
3as he has in the past; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to Michael A. Richards and his family to commemorate
6this special occasion.
