HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Daniel
4 Benjamin Jones, Jr. of Chicago, who passed away on August 15,
5 2009; and
 
6     WHEREAS, He was born on December 8, 1987 to Daniel and
7 Maronda Jones; he was educated at St. Columbanus Catholic
8 school, Chicago Military Academy-Bronzeville, and Howard
9 University; during high school he was a member of the National
10 Honor Society, Who's Who Among National High School Students,
11 and the recipient of many scholarships, including a scholarship
12 from Operation PUSH; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Daniel attended Howard University at the age of 16
14 and was a member of Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity, where
15 he did volunteer work with the organization; during his summer
16 months, he would work for the Illinois Secretary of State, the
17 Illinois Department of Transportation, and the Chicago Board of
18 Education; while attending Howard University he worked for the
19 Palomar Hotel, Busboys and Poets, and Marc Park; and
 
20     WHEREAS, In the spring of 2009 he moved to Fort Worth,
21 Texas and worked for the Omni Hotel; and

1     WHEREAS, Affectionately known as DJ, he was a well-liked
2 young man, quiet, with a bright smile; he loved sports, music,
3 philosophy, and life; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Daniel Benjamin Jones, Jr. is survived by his
5 parents, Daniel Jones, Sr. and Maronda Peel (Dewayne Sandifer);
6 his sisters, Victoria Jones and Danelle Jones; his
7 grandmothers, Mary Ann (Walter) Buchanan and Ben Ella Jones;
8 his grandfather, Thomas Jones; his great-grandmother, Lillie
9 Mae Brady; his aunts, Cheryl Jones, Brenda Peel, and India
10 Helm; and a host of other relatives and dear friends;
11 therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Daniel
15 Benjamin Jones, Jr.; and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Daniel Benjamin Jones, Jr. as a
18 symbol of our sincere sympathy.
