SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
815 ILCS 505/2III new

    Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that on each monthly bill for wireless telecommunications service sent to a consumer by a wireless telecommunications carrier, the carrier must state (i) the date on which the consumer's contract for wireless telecommunications service provided by the carrier ends and (ii) the amount of any termination fee charged to the consumer by the carrier if the consumer terminates wireless telecommunications service before the date on which the consumer's contract ends. Makes a carrier's violation of this provision an unlawful practice under the Act. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning business.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
5 Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2III as follows:
 
6     (815 ILCS 505/2III new)
7     Sec. 2III. Wireless telecommunications; monthly bill. On
8 each monthly bill for wireless telecommunications service sent
9 to a consumer by a wireless telecommunications carrier, the
10 carrier must state the following:
11         (1) The date on which the consumer's contract for
12     wireless telecommunications service provided by the
13     carrier ends.
14         (2) The amount of any termination fee charged to the
15     consumer by the carrier if the consumer terminates wireless
16     telecommunications service before the date on which the
17     consumer's contract ends.
18     A carrier's violation of this Section is an unlawful
19 practice within the meaning of this Act.
 
20     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
21 becoming law.
