Amends the Illinois Dental Practice Act. Requires all dental offices located in the State to contain at least one automated external defibrillator (AED) on the premises at all times. Provides that at least one member of the dental office staff must possess an acceptable level of knowledge in the use of AEDs and that the owner of the office is responsible for ensuring that the office is in compliance with the AED requirements.

| AN ACT concerning regulation.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Dental Practice Act is amended by |
5 |
| adding Section 44.5 as follows: |
6 |
| (225 ILCS 25/44.5 new) |

| Sec. 44.5. Automated external defibrillator required. All |
8 |
| dental offices located in this State wherein the practice of |
9 |
| dentistry is conducted must contain at least one automated |
10 |
| external defibrillator (AED) on the premises at all times. At |
11 |
| least one member of the dental office staff must possess a |
12 |
| level of knowledge in the use of AEDs that is acceptable to the |
13 |
| Department. The owner of a dental office is responsible for |
14 |
| ensuring that the office that he, she, or it owns is in |
15 |
| compliance with the requirements of this Section.
