| AN ACT concerning civil immunity.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Good Samaritan Act is amended by changing |
5 |
| Section 72 as follows: |

| (745 ILCS 49/72) |

| Sec. 72. Professional engineers, architects, land |
8 |
| surveyors, interior design professionals, and structural |
9 |
| engineers; exemption from civil liability for professional |
10 |
| services in response to disasters or catastrophic events. Any |
11 |
| professional engineer, architect, land surveyor, interior |
12 |
| design professional, or structural engineer who in good faith, |
13 |
| without fee, provides professional services in response to a |
14 |
| disaster or other catastrophic event shall not be liable for |
15 |
| civil damages as a result of his or her acts or omissions in |
16 |
| providing the professional services, except for willful and |
17 |
| wanton misconduct. This immunity applies to services that are |
18 |
| provided without fee during or within 60 days following the end |
19 |
| of a disaster or catastrophic event.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |

| becoming law.
