| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives wish to congratulate Sam Ackerman, an esteemed |
4 |
| resident of Chicago, on the occasion of the celebration of his |
5 |
| 70th birthday on December 23, 2004; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Sam Ackerman was born in New York City in 1934 and |
7 |
| spent his childhood in Connecticut; he graduated from Cornell |
8 |
| University in 1956 with a BA degree in government, and received |
9 |
| his MBA degree from the University of Chicago in 1966; he has |
10 |
| taught at Roosevelt University as an adjunct professor since |
11 |
| 1988; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, His first priority is to his family; he is the |
13 |
| father of five children and grandfather to nine grandchildren; |
14 |
| he has a brother, sister, foster sister, and nieces and |
15 |
| nephews; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Sam is currently Education Director of Comprand, |
17 |
| Inc., a non-profit research and advocacy organization in |
18 |
| Chicago dedicated to improved education and health care for |
19 |
| inner-city residents; he also serves public and private-sector |
20 |
| clients as a human resources consultant and trainer; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, In 1984, he was loaned to the City of Chicago by |
22 |
| CFS Continental, where he held the position of Director of |
23 |
| Training and Productivity Improvement; he served under Mayor |
24 |
| Washington, first as Special Counsel and then as First Deputy |
25 |
| Commissioner of Personnel; and
|
26 |
| WHEREAS, He has served for eight years on the Board of the |
27 |
| Illinois Quality of Work Life Council, an organization |
28 |
| committed to labor-management cooperation and increased |
29 |
| democracy in the workplace; and
