SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John Patrick Madden, who passed away
4on March 25, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Madden, the son of Martin and Margaret
6Madden, was born on August 23, 1934; and
 
7    WHEREAS, John Madden ran the successful business, Madden
8Publishing; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Madden was a dedicated volunteer at
10Maryville Academy, beginning in 1961; he and his wife
11personally met with and hosted parties for children residing
12there; he was a board member from 1970 to 2008, serving as
13board chairman for many years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Madden was preceded in death by his wife of
1566 years, Mary Frances (Plunkett) Madden; their baby, Danny
16Madden; his parents; his brother, Joe Madden; and his nephew,
17Luke Madden; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Madden is survived by his children, Kathleen
19(Tom) Loftus and Sean (Jo Ellen) Madden; his grandchildren,
20Michael Madden, William Madden, Mary Rose (Garrett Kawashima)

1Loftus, Eileen Loftus, John Madden, and Caitlin Loftus; his
2sisters, Peggy Casey, Mary Ewing, Barbara Madden, and Katie
3Kahoun; his sister-in-law, Charlene Madden; and many nieces
4and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7John Patrick Madden and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of John Madden as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
