SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Laurel Marie "Laurie" (FitzGerald)
4Zirkle of Des Plaines, who passed away on February 27, 2024;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Laurie Zirkle was born to Earl and Eileen in
7Evanston on June 9, 1953; she attended St. Gertrude for
8primary school, Immaculata High School, and Sacred Heart High
9School in Chicago; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Laurie Zirkle worked for the Chicago Fire
11Prevention Bureau and then for Programmers Investment
12Corporation; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Laurie Zirkle volunteered at Seasons Hospice and
14the Catholic Charities' Loving Outreach to Survivors of
15Suicide (LOSS) program; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Laurie Zirkle loved animals, had a deep passion
17for music, particularly Motown, and enjoyed watching movies
18with her husband, Randy; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Laurie Zirkle was an engaging conversationalist
20and a truly thoughtful and loving wife, mother, and friend;

1she will be remembered for her compassion, her laugh, her
2quick wit, and her warm smile; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Laurie Zirkle was preceded in death by her
4parents and her daughter, Mary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Laurie Zirkle is survived by her husband, Randy
6Zirkle; her sons, Scott (Heather) and Matt (Tamila); her
7grandchildren, Avery and Mason; and seven siblings; therefore,
8be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Laurel Marie "Laurie" (FitzGerald) Zirkle and extend our
12sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
13and loved her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Laurie Zirkle as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
