SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ronald R. Nelson of New Windsor, who
4passed away on December 27, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ronald Nelson was born to Earle and Beulah
6(Thomas) Nelson in New Windsor on July 29, 1930; he attended
7New Windsor public schools, graduating as valedictorian in
81948; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ronald Nelson enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps
10in January 1949, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars; he
11also served several additional tours overseas and fulfilled
12numerous assignments in the U.S.; he retired with the rank of
13master sergeant after 21 years of service; and
 
14    WHEREAS, After his military service, Ronald Nelson
15returned to New Windsor to assist in caring for his parents; he
16also he worked as a bartender for the Bea and Wayne Bar in
17Woodhull; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ronald Nelson was a man of strong faith who was
19baptized and confirmed at the United Presbyterian Church; he
20was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears; and

1    WHEREAS, Ronald Nelson was preceded in death by his
2parents; his siblings, Stanley Nelson, Harry Nelson, and
3Loretta Pheiffer; and his baby brother, Clifford Nelson; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Ronald Nelson is survived by his siblings, Karen
5Homer, Mary Anne Potratz, James Nelson, and Terry Nelon, and
6their families; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Ronald R. Nelson and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Ronald Nelson as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
