SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gary M. Stimpson of Moline, who passed
4away on August 28, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary Stimpson was born in Gardner, Massachusetts
6to Thomas E. and Ruthmarie Lange Stimpson on January 8, 1949;
7he graduated from Alleman High School in 1967; he served in the
8U.S. Navy on the USS Intrepid during the Vietnam War and was
9decorated for his service; he married Ann R. "Ricki" Miller at
10St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Island on May 13, 1972; he
11received his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from
12Augustana College in 1976; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Gary Stimpson worked for nearly 30 years at
14Nichols Aluminum in Davenport, Iowa, where he was one of the
15pioneers in the field of environmental engineering; he ended
16his career at Keokuk Steel Castings, retiring in 2014; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Gary Stimpson was a lifelong Catholic and
18parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Island; he
19enjoyed golfing, gardening, history, and politics, but most of
20all, he loved spending time with his friends and family,
21especially his grandchildren; and

1    WHEREAS, Gary Stimpson was preceded in death by his
2parents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Gary Stimpson is survived by his wife, Ricki; his
4daughters, Emily (Christopher) Chapman, Annmarie (Andy)
5Shrake, and Sara (Nathan) Weeks; his grandchildren, Emma,
6Lily, and Charlie Shrake, Jackson and Luke Weeks, and Tobias,
7Becket, and Eleanore Chapman; his siblings, Dennis J. (Linda)
8Stimpson, Theresa Stimpson, Mary Knox, Suzie (Dan) Budde, and
9Patty (Phil) Wilson; dozens of nieces, nephews, grandnieces,
10and grandnephews; and many dear friends, including Charley and
11Mary Arnold, Ron and Kay Cabay, Kathleen Kennedy, and Larry
12and Linda Moore; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Gary M. Stimpson and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Gary Stimpson as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
