SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Pastor John E. McNair, who passed away
4on August 7, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pastor McNair was born to Lonnie and Isabella
6McNair in Pelahatchie, Mississippi on November 3, 1946; he was
7raised in Pelahatchie and attended McCall High School; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Pastor McNair owned and operated John's Moving
9Company, LLC for more than 40 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Pastor McNair was a member of Potter's House
11Outreach and Deliverance Ministries; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Pastor McNair was known for offering
13encouragement and aid to everyone he met; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Pastor McNair was preceded in death by his
15parents; his brothers, Dorl McNair, Lonnie McNair Jr., Eli
16McNair, and Jimmie McNair; his sister, Eva Grace Collier; his
17son, John K. McNair; his wife, Marion McNair; and his
18grandson, Rajon M. McNair; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Pastor McNair is survived by his wife, Valerie J.

1McNair; his daughters, Shelia, Debbie, Leslie (William) Ray,
2and Jacqueline (Dexter) Woodard; his sons, Travis and Elijah;
314 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ralph
4(Cora) McNair and Michael Johnson; his sisters, Dorethea (LC)
5Rhodes, Yulonda McNair, and Shirley (George) Lay; his
6sisters-in-law, Pastor Dr. Dorothy Jean Smothers and Jackie V.
7Coop; his goddaughters, Karan, Sharan, and Kanissa; his
8godson, Charles; his special friend, Roy Chester Stennis Jr.;
9and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Pastor John E. McNair and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Pastor McNair as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
