SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Leslie J. "Jack" Fyans Jr., Ph.D., who
4passed away on June 12, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Fyans was born to Antoinette Picco Fyans and
6Leslie J. "Jack" Fyans in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 6,
71952; he married Paula Peterson at Antioch Church of Christ in
8Rossville on May 18, 1974, and they had two children; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Fyans was a consultant to the Illinois State
10Board of Education for over 10 years; he served as chief
11psychological consultant to the Veterans Center of Illinois
12for 36 years and as a consultant to the Federal Disability
13Program of the Illinois Department of Human Services for 32
14years; he founded Clinical Counseling in 1979; he cared deeply
15for those he counseled and was affectionately known as "Doctor
16Jack" and "Doc"; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dr. Fyans was a longtime, active, and devoted
18member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Fyans' love of life, good friends, and good
20wine, along with his quick-witted humor, made him the life of
21any party; his cherished friendships gained through church,

1school, youth soccer, the Italian American Society, and
2Republican committees enriched his happiness and ability to
3survive and thrive despite many health challenges; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dr. Fyans' greatest source of pride and joy was
5his children and grandchildren, and his favorite titles were
6"Dad" and "Papa"; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Fyans was the husband of Paula; the father of
8Angela M. Picco Fyans-Jimenez and Leslie J. Picco "JP"
9(Kristin Michelle Litviak) Fyans III; and the grandfather of
10Natalya Fyans-Jimenez, Luciano Fyans-Jimenez, Jackson Fyans,
11and Charles Fyans; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Leslie J. "Jack" Fyans Jr., Ph.D., and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Dr. Fyans as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
