SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wayne Newton Hecht of Savoy, who passed
4away on August 25, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wayne Hecht was born to Grace and Alvah Hecht in
6Kearney, Nebraska on November 23, 1929; he graduated from York
7High School in 1948; he married Jeretta Catherine Leu at the
8United Lutheran Church in York, Nebraska on February 4, 1951;
9after serving in the Army Counterintelligence Corps during the
10Korean War, he attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Wayne Hecht accepted the position of assistant
13director at the newly constructed Assembly Hall at the
14University of Illinois in 1963; he retired as director of the
15Assembly Hall in 1993; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Wayne Hecht was a charter member of Good Shepherd
17Lutheran Church in Champaign; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Wayne Hecht was preceded in death by his parents
19and his two brothers, Dean and Boyd Hecht; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Wayne Hecht is survived by his wife; his son,

1Bruce Matthew (Mary Ann) Hecht; his daughter, Laura Jane
2(Robert) Young; his granddaughter, Lisa (John) Bertetto; his
3great-grandsons, John Victor and Leo Bruce; and his brother,
4Ross Hecht; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Wayne Newton Hecht and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Wayne Hecht as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
