SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of David N. Bernstrom of Port Byron, who
4passed away on September 7, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Bernstrom was born in Moline to Nils and
6Leona (Petersen) Bernstrom on November 24, 1933; he married
7Mary Wiese in Moline on August 14, 1965; he served in the U.S.
8Marines during the Korean Conflict; after being honorably
9discharged, he served another 8 years in the National Guard;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, David Bernstrom worked as a union carpenter until
12he retired in 1997; and
 
13    WHEREAS, David Bernstrom was a member of the American
14Legion, the VFW, and the Seagoing Marine Association; alongside
15his wife, he enjoyed traveling across the United States and to
16many foreign countries after his retirement; he also enjoyed
17gardening, raising bumper crops of tomatoes, and tinkering
18around his shop; and
 
19    WHEREAS, David Bernstrom was preceded in death by his
20parents and his sister, Linda Breckling; and

1    WHEREAS, David Bernstrom is survived by his wife, Mary; his
2daughters, Shannan (Mark) O'Connor and Susan (Dave) Burke; his
3son, David Bernstrom Jr. (Caciona); his 6 grandchildren, Katie
4Burke, Brian Burke, Maggie Burke, Kevin Burke, Nils Bernstrom,
5and Serafina Bernstrom; and his sister, Susan Foster;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9David N. Bernstrom and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of David Bernstrom as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
