2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Billy McCullough of Zion, who passed away |
4 | | on June 9, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Billy McCullough was born in Mill Shoals Township |
6 | | to Joe and Sarah McCullough on June 29, 1936; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Billy McCullough worked for Coca-Cola and |
8 | | Colonial Bakery; he then owned and operated the Salem Food Mart |
9 | | in Zion; after that, he spent 17 years as a salesman at Shepard |
10 | | Chevrolet in Lake Bluff and a few years at Fun Times RV; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Billy McCullough was well known for his commitment |
12 | | to the community; he proudly served on the Zion Elementary |
13 | | District 6 School Board for two terms and as City Commissioner |
14 | | of Accounts and Finance from 1983 to 1991; he was a member of |
15 | | the Zion Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of |
16 | | directors of the Zion, Winthrop Harbor, and Beach Park |
17 | | Chambers; he served as the Mayor of Zion from 1991 to 1995; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Billy McCullough was a member of the Kiwanis Club |
19 | | of Zion-Benton and the Meritorious Board of Midwestern Regional |
20 | | Medical Center; he was a past member of Lakeview Church and, |
21 | | most recently, of Christ Community Church; red was his |
