SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Everett Earl Ledbetter of Springfield,
4formerly of Sparta, who passed away on March 16, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter was born in Sparta to Katherine
6(Saal) and Lewis Ledbetter on August 12, 1924; he served in the
7U.S. Third Army, 76th Infantry during WWII, where he fought in
8Belgium at the Battle of the Bulge and Bastogne; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter worked at World Color Press in
10Sparta; he moved to Springfield to work at the Journal Star in
11Peoria around 1959; he later worked at the Springfield
12Journal-Register; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter will be remembered as a devoted
14husband, father, and grandfather; he was a member of the
15Springfield Southern Baptist Church; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter was preceded in death by his
17first wife, Reba Scott Ledbetter; his second wife, Dorothy
18Millner Bush Ledbetter; his son, Nolan Ledbetter; his
19daughter-in-law, Kay Ledbetter; his brother, Bill Ledbetter;
20his sisters, Mildred McIntyre, Edith Howie, and Edna Baily; and
21his parents; and

1    WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter is survived by his sons, Earl
2Gene Ledbetter and Russell (Mary Jane) Ledbetter; his
3grandchildren, Richard (Betty) Ledbetter, Sherri Kay Whitmore,
4Lisa Marie Brown, Diane Marie (John) Baranzelli, Christopher
5Joseph (Amy) Ledbetter, Jamie Lynn (Brandon) Bowden, and Robin
6Leigh Ledbetter; his stepdaughters, Linda Bush Prince and Sandy
7Bush Howard; his step-grandchildren, Shelly Gresham, Susan
8Bowen, and Scott Morehead; and his many great-grandchildren and
9great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Everett Earl Ledbetter and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Everett Ledbetter as an expression
17of our deepest sympathy.
