SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Felix "Lance" Callis of St. Louis,
4Missouri, formerly of Granite City, who passed away on
5September 25, 2019; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lance Callis was born to Felix Lancelot and Nora
7Teresa (O'Halloran) Callis on August 12, 1935; he graduated
8from St. Louis University Law School in 1959; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lance Callis began his long and successful career
10as a trial lawyer in Granite City; during his 60 years as an
11attorney, he received many awards; he was named a Laureate of
12the Academy of Illinois Lawyers by the Illinois Bar Association
13for his over 50 years of expertise; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Lance Callis was involved with many philanthropic
15and charitable causes; he established an endowed chair and full
16scholarships for exemplary students at St. Louis University Law
17School, known as the Callis Scholars; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lance Callis was preceded in death by his parents
19and his wife, Joan M. (Wegrzyn) Callis; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Lance Callis is survived by his children, Mona S.

1(Dale Erspamer) Callis, Ann E. (James Holloran) Callis, Melissa
2Mary Callis, and Phillip Lance Callis; his grandchildren,
3Michael, Anna, Nora (Phil), Elliot, Caroline, Anna, Ava Rose,
4Juan Manuel, and Brody; and his great-grandchildren;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Felix "Lance" Callis and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Lance Callis as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
