SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jack Albin Allen of Tuscola, who passed
4away on September 4, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Allen was born in Newman to Ray and Lela
6Albin Allen on October 27, 1926; he graduated from Newman High
7School, where he played football and the trombone; he married
8Wilma Armstrong in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jack Allen worked at USI and was a partner in the
10Tuscola John Deere dealership; he later co-founded the
11Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth dealership; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1974, Jack Allen was elected County Clerk for
13Douglas County and served in that position through 1990; prior
14to being County Clerk, he was a county board member and a
15Tuscola City Alderman; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jack Allen was a 50-year member of Newman Masonic
17Lodge #369, where he served as Worshipful Master; he was a
1850-year member of Tuscola Chapter #66 Royal Arch Masons, where
19he served as Excellent High Priest; he loved model trains, his
20ukuleles, and playing the piano; he was a trombonist in Gene
21Trimble's orchestra; he also enjoyed finishing antique farm

1toys, yard work, taking care of his house, playing golf, trips
2to Florida, and visiting family; he was a member of Tuscola
3United Methodist Church and never missed a meeting of the I & I
4Club; he was a Paul Harris Fellow and longtime member of the
5Tuscola Rotary Club; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jack Allen rarely missed a weekday morning at
7Flesor's Candy Kitchen for breakfast with Don, Red, Jim, Dale,
8and others and came prepared with a very heavy bottle of
9quarters for the 9 o'clock game of the Sons of Retirement at
10the back table; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jack Allen was preceded in death by his daughter,
12Ginger; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jack Allen is survived by his wife, Wilma; his
14daughter, Debra; his grandsons, Spencer A. Smith and Jack J.
15Heretik; his sister, Martha Crane; his nieces, Connie, Doris,
16Becky, Linda, Rita, and Marsha; and his nephews Ken, Steve,
17Jim, Mike, Jerry, Harry, and Richard (Sexton); therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
20Jack Albin Allen and extend our sincere condolences to his
21family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
