SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joan T. Nielsen of Joliet, who passed
4away on May 29, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joan Nielsen was born and raised in Joliet; she
6graduated from St. Francis Academy in 1946; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Joan Nielsen enjoyed volunteering in the surgical
8wing at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center; she was a member of
9the Secular Franciscan Order O.F.S., the Catholic Women's
10League, the Fraternity of St. Anthony, the Paulites, and the
11Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus; she attended St. Paul the
12Apostle Catholic Church; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Joan Nielsen was a longtime Lockport resident
14before relocating back to Joliet in 1998; she was a prayerful,
15mediative person who always thought of the needs of others
16before her own while in prayer; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joan Nielsen was preceded by her husband, Herluf
18R. "Bob" Nielsen Jr.; her son, Robert William Nielsen; her
19parents, William and Mary (Callaghan) Burt; her sister, Marilyn
20Long; and her brother, William (Phyllis) Burt; and

1    WHEREAS, Joan Nielsen is survived by her daughters, Jeanne
2(Jack) Phelan, Eileen (Larry) Whitgrove, and Annette (Dennis)
3Berman; her sons, Thomas (Candy) and James (Noreen) Nielsen;
4her grandchildren, Brian (Tricia) Phelan, John (Blanca)
5Phelan, Elizabeth (Jason) Schaedel, Larry Whitgrove, Annie
6Whitgrove, Danielle (Matthew) Sheehy, Mari (Thomas) Cerven,
7Erin (Ryan Killian) Berman, Brendan Nielsen, Christian
8Nielsen, Colin Nielsen, Haley Nielsen, and Dylan Nielsen; her
9great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kendall, Jordan, Devin, Sophia,
10Johnny, Anthony, Colten, Francesca, Cristiano, and Thomas; and
11a very special brother-in-law, Robert Long; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Joan T. Nielsen and extend our sincere condolences to her
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Joan Nielsen as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
