SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Irma L. Jones, who passed away on January
411, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Irma Jones was born in Grenada, Mississippi to
6Dump and Ruby Jones on December 31, 1944; she was baptized at
7an early age at Brick Academy Missionary Baptist Church in
8Grenada, where she also taught Sunday School and sang in the
9choir; later in life, she joined the Church of the Living God
10PGT #1 under the leadership of Overseer Thomas E. Walker; she
11followed his leadership and became a disciple of the Main
12Street Church of the Living God; she was an active member and
13served as Chaplain of the Women's Mission Ministry, President
14of the Culinary Ministry, and as Pastor's Aide Vice President;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Irma Jones volunteered at Youth with a Positive
17Direction, where she served and cooked meals for the youth,
18young adults, adults, and volunteers; she was also a member of
19the board and served as treasurer; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Irma Jones loved her church family and spent many
21hours at church; and

1    WHEREAS, Irma Jones was preceded in death by her parents;
2her brothers, Tom Jones and Eddie Lee Garrett; her sisters,
3Dora Lee Craig and Beatrice Worthy; and her sister-in-law, Lula
4Mae Jones; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Irma Jones is survived by her children, Leatrice
6Jones, Barry Jones, Lisa Jones, Letrisa Jones, and Kervin
7(Vanessa) Jones; her grandchildren, Deatrice (Adrian Harrison)
8Jones, Dara (Keith) Halliburton, Donntrisa Jones, Roderick
9(Shivita) Jones, Tionas Williams, Thesis Jones, Demarcus
10(Gela) Jones, Bradley Jones, Josh Jones, Raji Jones, Honore
11Holmes; her 20 great-grandchildren; her
12great-great-grandchild; her sisters, Luvenia (Tommie) Love,
13Joyce (Larry) Clark, Maxine (Rick) Nixon, Denise Smith-Hankey,
14Ann Thomas, and Debra Thomas; her brothers, Sell Jones, Gregory
15(Dorothy) Jones and Anthony Garrett; her godchildren, Ken
16White, Dr. Julius Bailey, and Kenneth (Shelith) Hansbro and
17their family; her special friend, Josphine Bisch; her many
18nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her many children and
19grandchildren throughout the community; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22Irma L. Jones and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
23friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

3deepest sympathy.
