SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
3Assembly pays honor and respect to truly great individuals; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary was born to Edwin and Marilyn
5Neary of Morris on July 11, 1950; he attended Morris schools
6and Joliet Junior College; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary began his career in law
8enforcement with the Grundy County Sheriff's Department; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary was hired as a police officer in
10Coal City on October 23, 1972 and went on to serve as Chief of
11Police in Coal City for 30 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary also served 35 years with the Coal
13City Volunteer Fire Department, many of those years as Captain;
14he was also an EMT for six years; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary received the Coal City Community
16Service Award in 2002; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dennis M. Neary passed away on October 2, 2016,
18leaving behind his wife of 43 years, Cathy, two sons, and three
19grandchildren; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
3CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate Route 113 from Carbon Hill
4Road to Virginia Street in Coal City as the "Dennis M. Neary
5Memorial Highway"; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
7is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
8State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
9giving notice of the name the "Dennis M. Neary Memorial
10Highway"; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Dennis M. Neary, Coal City Village
13President Terry Halliday, and the Secretary of the Department
14of Transportation.
