HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The health of our communities is the foundation
3for a caring and productive society, and our future rests with
4our ability to find cures for and adequately treat individuals
5who are afflicted with a variety of illnesses, including
6pulmonary hypertension; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Pulmonary hypertension is a rare disorder causing
8intolerable blood pressure levels in the arteries between the
9lungs and heart; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Pulmonary hypertension is chronic and incurable
11and has a poor survival rate; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Symptoms of pulmonary hypertension may include
13chest pain, dizziness, fainting, fatigue, swollen legs and
14ankles, and irregular heartbeat; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Early diagnosis can lead to early treatment and
16the possibility of an improved quality of life; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Education can help with early diagnosis, and
18funding for research can help find a cure; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The Pulmonary Hypertension Association is a

1nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of
2life for those with pulmonary hypertension through education,
3awareness, research, member services, and patient and family
4support; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we declare November 2019 as "Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness
8Month" in the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
