    Amends various Acts relating to the governance of public universities and community colleges in Illinois. Provides that, beginning with the 2020-2021 academic year, at the beginning of each academic year or semester, in creating a financial aid award letter for students of a university or community college who qualify for financial aid or assistance, the university or community college must include in the letter a clear breakdown of how much assistance or aid has been awarded to the student from each source, including the amount of any scholarships granted by the university or community college or by a private entity or the amount any federal grants.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5adding Section 105 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 305/105 new)
7    Sec. 105. Financial aid award letter. Beginning with the
82020-2021 academic year, at the beginning of each academic year
9or semester, in creating a financial aid award letter for
10students of the University who qualify for financial aid or
11assistance, the University must include in the letter a clear
12breakdown of how much assistance or aid has been awarded to the
13student from each source, including the amount of any
14scholarships granted by the University or by a private entity
15or the amount of any federal grants.
 
16    Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management
17Act is amended by adding Section 90 as follows:

19    Sec. 90. Financial aid award letter. Beginning with the

7students of the community college who qualify for financial aid

9the letter a clear breakdown of how much assistance or aid has
10been awarded to the student from each source, including the
11amount of any scholarships granted by the community college or
12by a private entity or the amount of any federal grants.
