SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kenneth Ray Beyer, formerly of Woodstock,
4who passed away on August 26, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kenneth Beyer was born in Chicago to Raymond and
6Fern Beyer on February 14, 1941; as a young man, he was gifted
7in math and received donor-paid tuition to university, but he
8dropped out in his first year when his father was stricken with
9cancer; he joined the United States Air Force and spent four
10years in the service, stationed primarily in Turkey; he then
11worked for the National Security Agency as a codebreaker during
12the Cuban Missile Crisis; and
 
13    WHEREAS, When he returned to civilian life, Kenneth Beyer
14worked for Frank Cacci at the Woodstock News Agency; when the
15business sold, he opened Temple Hobbies and later Beyer's News
16Depot and Hobby Shop, a favorite place for both young and old
17to buy coffee, soft drinks, papers, magazines, and hobby
18supplies; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Kenneth Beyer sold his business and retired to
20Kingman, Arizona; once a year, he drove around the United
21States to visit his children and grandchildren on the East
22Coast, his brother and family in Woodstock, and occasionally

1friends in Florida; he was an avid Cubs fan and vowed to live
2until they won the World Series; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Kenneth Beyer was preceded in death by his
4parents; and his sister, Diane; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kenneth Beyer is survived by his brother, Donald
6(Judy); his two daughters, Lisa (Tim Coman) and Eva (Paul
7Davis); his sons, David (Lisa Weckerle) and James (Jessica);
8his four grandchildren; and his four nieces and three nephews;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Kenneth Ray Beyer, and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Kenneth Beyer as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
