SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James E. "Ed" Lawson of Rock Island, who
4passed away on April 17, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Lawson was born in Gauley Bridge, West
6Virginia to James G. and Frances I. McClellan Lawson on
7September 28, 1920; he served in the United States Navy during
8World War II in the South Pacific; he was awarded a Purple
9Heart for wounds received in action; he married Faye J. Vetter
10at the Church of Peace United Church of Christ in Rock Island
11on March 19, 1950; and
 
12    WHEREAS, James Lawson worked as a crane operator and later
13farmed in the Milan area; he was also a dealer for Heritage
14Fencing; and
 
15    WHEREAS, James Lawson was a past president of the Rock
16Island County Farm Bureau; he was a member of Reynolds American
17Legion Post 1166, Aledo VFW Post 1571, and Rock Island County
18Voiture No. 237 of the 40 & 8; and
 
19    WHEREAS, James Lawson was preceded in death by his parents;
20his brothers, Everett, Elmer, Bert, Jeff, Harold, Roy, Paul,
21Darrell, and Arthur; and his sisters, Gladys and Irene Hampton;

2    WHEREAS, James Lawson is survived by his wife, Faye; his
3sisters, Beulah Sloan, and Sally Doss; and numerous nieces and
4nephews; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7James E. "Ed" Lawson, and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of James Lawson as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
