SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/10-20.24  from Ch. 122, par. 10-20.24

    Amends the School Code. Provides that any school district that has a local chapter of the National FFA Organization shall permit a pupil that is enrolled in a nonpublic school to participate in the school district's chapter without requiring part-time attendance if the student resides within the boundaries of the school district. Provides that the school district shall obtain authorization from the pupil's parent or guardian before the pupil may participate in the chapter. Provides that the school district may charge the pupil's parent or guardian a fee, subject to determination by the school district, to cover the costs associated with the pupil's participation in the chapter. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
510-20.24 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.24)  (from Ch. 122, par. 10-20.24)
7    Sec. 10-20.24. Part-time Attendance. To accept in
8part-time attendance in the regular education program of the
9district pupils enrolled in nonpublic schools if there is
10sufficient space in the public school desired to be attended.
11Request for attendance in the following school year must be
12submitted by the nonpublic school principal to the public
13school before May 1. Request may be made only to those public
14schools located in the district where the child attending the
15nonpublic school resides.
16    To accept, pursuant to the provisions of Section 14-6.01,
17in part-time attendance resident pupils of the types described
18in Sections 14-1.02 through 14-1.07 who are enrolled in
19nonpublic schools.
20    Any school district that has a local chapter of the
21National FFA Organization (FFA) shall permit a pupil that is
22enrolled in a nonpublic school to participate in the school
23district's local FFA chapter without requiring part-time

1attendance if the student resides within the boundaries of the
2school district. The school district shall obtain

10    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
